Antioch Baptist Church of Cleveland | Bereavement Ministry

Bereavement Ministry

  • The Bereavement Ministry is the primary point of contact with the church and bereaved family to make final arrangements for their loved one. In addition, the Ministry includes a cardmaking ministry which prepares hand-made cards designed to uplift and encourage members of the congregation when they experience the death of a loved one–with a mission to ensure that all members are supported during their time of loss. There is a support group ministry to provide support to individuals and families during the grieving process. Lastly, the Ministry conducts work shops on topics like wills, healthcare powers of attorney, living wills, planning and execution of a funeral service.

Antioch Baptist Church of Cleveland | Board of Deacons

Board of Deacons

  • The Board of Deacons are individuals who, in partnership with the pastor, have been ordained to serve the spiritual and benevolent needs of the congregation. With the vote of the church, ordained Deacons can serve the church as a lifetime appointment. Their lives, deportment, and reputation shall be in keeping with the New Testament requirements of a Deacon–persons of honesty, wisdom, integrity, and faith.

  • The Deacons are incredibly active in the life of the church, and they lead and coordinate a multitude of activities and programs, including a weekly Sunday prayer call, the Right Hand of Fellowship for new members, monthly Communion, and a robust outreach program in collaboration with East Mt. Zion Baptist Church called, “Lifeline,” which provides up to four day’s worth of groceries for the entire month for local families in need.
