  • Black Film Festival
    An intergenerational time of fellowship and learning during Black History Month (February). Members and friends are encouraged to attend each Friday night for refreshments and to watch a black-film; an enlightening discussion is facilitated by a committee member after the movie.

  • Small Group Administration
    Various groups meet within the church or in members' homes to read and study a specific Biblical topic. They provide the perfect environment for spiritual growth as believers and those who have yet to make a faith-decision, become more familiar with the Bible and build relationships with people of similar interests. Groups are defined by age, geographic location, gender, common interest, etc. New groups are encouraged to form.

  • Vacation Bible School
    A seasonal, small-group experience which occurs daily for one week in the summer. It is promoted to both church members and the community. Sessions include a Bible lesson, songs and activities centered around a common theme. Classes meet nightly from 6-9 pm and are held for all ages throughout the church.

  • Junior Church
    Junior Church is a high energy, interactive worship service for children ages 5-12 years old. This volunteer-staffed worship period includes Bible-based object lessons, puppets, and crafts. We are currently studying the Old Testament. The children worship through praise, song, dance, and giving. Junior Church is held on the Third Floor of the McKinney building each Sunday except during the month of August.

  • Church School
    The Church school vision is to equip church-school members for service and evangelism. This will be accomplished by developing a person's understanding of the word of God through bible study, worship, fellowship and encouraging participation in all of God's purposes for the church. Church school consists of six classes for children and youth (pre-K through 12th grade) and 10 adult classes. Classes meet every Sunday in classrooms throughout the church and in the Antioch Credit Union. Class time is 9:45a.m.-10:45a.m. Every fifth Sunday, all adult classes (sometimes children/youth) meet together for a combined session.

  • Tutoring Program
    The Antioch Baptist Church is a participating community site of the Cleveland Scholarship and Tutoring Program, which is funded in part by the state of Ohio for children enrolled in the Cleveland Municipal School District, grades kindergarten through twelve. We offer tutoring in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The tutoring opportunity at Antioch is offered free of charge to the student.

  • Hallo-Lujah Festival
    A safe, fun Christian alternative to Halloween is held annually on the Saturday prior to October 31st. This outreach/ Evangelism/children's Ministry event routinely attracts over 500 children and their parents throughout the Greater Cleveland area and beyond. Children are presented the Gospel and the Plan of Salvation in ways that they can understand. After the lesson, children are able to win prizes from over 40 carnival-style games and enjoy an assortment of refreshments. Of course, there is an over abundance of candy. Our goal is to make sure that every child leaves with a smile on their face, knowing that they are indeed a child of God.

  • Stopping AIDS Is My Mission (SAMM) Program
    The SAMM Program provides HIV and AIDS education to youth at risk throughout greater Cleveland. SAMM is a culturally competent program whose sole aim is to reduce HIV risk behavior among African American, Latino and white youth. This goal is accomplished through a partnership with the AGAPE Program, the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland Public Schools, concerned teenagers throughout Greater Cleveland, community centers and other community organizations.

  • Genesis Program
    The Antioch Genesis program is a faith-based career development program that has been in existence since 2001. The program provides intensive work-readiness and job search training designed to gain and retain employment. Currently it is exclusively available for individuals referred through Cuyahoga County Employment and Family Services. -- Each client receives rigorous classroom training that teaches life skills, personal development, and employability skills. Clients learn effective job search and job retention skills including: conflict resolution strategies, how to balance work and family, and techniques for forming habits leading to life-long learning and self improvement. Intensive case management is provided which includes several one-on-one appointments in addition to other strategies designed to assist the client in completing training and retaining employment.

  • Molding Minority Youth thru Faith And Mentoring (MMYFAM) Program
    VISION: Become a visible fraternal organization for youth that contributes to generational stability rather than poverty; one that fosters group identity rooted in cultural pride, collective responsibility and a common bond that unites and restores communities. -- MISSION: Establish peer-networks, "families," amongst at-risk middle school youth where they learn from minority role models and each other how to achieve professional careers and positively contribute to the communities in which they are engaged. -- GOALS: Expand the aspirations of at-risk youth for professional careers; Help youth see opportunities for wealth development through career choices; Create a strong sense of community-responsibility in neighborhoods in which they live; and Aide in the overall character-development of at-risk youth. -- TARGET: Sixth grade boys attending middle schools in the Fairfax community.

Worship 
  • Deacon Board
    The Antioch Board of Deacons is a ministry of service. We are set apart to partner with the Pastor to minister to the members of our congregation and community. We serve as an under shepherd to care for the well-being of the flock. This we do by visiting and praying with our sick and shut-in and comforting those in mourning. We administer the Fellowship Fund to those in financial need and deliver food through the Life Line Program to residents of Antioch Towers. We conduct the new members' orientation class and coordinate the Baptism Service. We keep in contact with members on our individual Shepherding Lists. We also prepare and serve Holy Communion every 1st Sunday and World-Wide Communion on the 1st Sundays in March and October. We are always ready to preserve the spiritual fellowship of our church.

  • Trustee Board
    Faithful stewards of the church's finances and watchman of all church assets is an accurate description of one of the main duties of the board members. The Board has the duty to act as a watchman to ensure the financial integrity of Antioch Baptist Church; so that our members can be confident in the collection, computation and management of their donations, tithes and offerings. This responsibility also includes review of all church accounts, on a monthly basis. The Board is responsible for setting policies for the operation of the church facility, employment, procurement, contracting, safety, insurance, fund raising, capital projects, investment and the endowment fund. The Board works in cooperation with the Director of Administration who has the direct responsibility for the daily operations of the church.

    Each choir and supporting musician are committed to produce excellence in music and worship, and a unified ministry that is focused on promoting the kingdom of God through worship. Because of the diversity of various styles of music which we have here at Antioch, we are able to render all of the music of the churches tradition; which includes anthems, hymns, arranged spirituals, traditional and contemporary gospel music. We believe in Paul's mandate: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you . . . as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." (Colossians 3:16)

    The Antioch Ringers is the name of the Handbell Choir Ministry. It is a ministry that welcomes all church members who are familiar with reading music, regardless of age. The Antioch Ringers rehearse every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for one hour and play during selected worship services. The handbells have a beautiful tone and provide another method of praising the Lord.   • Verse Speaking Choir
    Antioch Choral Reading Ministry began as a drama ministry in 1987 which included dramatic reading of plays, skits, scripture, poetry, etc. Choral reading is an additional way of presenting the Good News of the gospel. We perform dramatic readings throughout the year. The group, organized by Geraldine Evans, is directed by J. Florence Goolsby. Membership is open to male and female, young and the not-so-young.

    Chairô! Translated from Greek means a cheerful, joyful rejoice - as in a meeting. Chairô! Praise seeks to lift the name of Jesus with a cheerful, joyful rejoice, to encourage the downcast, and edify the saints while giving ". . . honor and glory and praise!" (Rev. 5:12b) worthy of Christ our Savior. Our prayer is that this ministry magnifies the Lord and blesses His people. "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I say rejoice!"   • Board of Evangelism
    The Evangelism Ministries is a response to the Savior's Great Commission "to seek and save that which is lost (Luke 19:10), Go into all the world to preach the gospel (Mark 16:15), and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19). The Board of Evangelism is dedicated to the "whole church taking the whole gospel to the whole nation and to the world." Working from these mandates and principles, the following evangelism ministries are Christ-centered, church-based, community-focused, collaborative in approach, and Christ-line in word and deed.

  • Foreign & Home Evangelism
    The purpose of Foreign and Home Missions is to sponsor missionary activities at home and abroad to advance the Gospel of Christ. We lend support to National organizations such as the American Red Cross through Antioch Baptist Church to assist people in foreign lands in time of need, and in doing so we are the representatives of Christ. Home missions supports the needs of various community groups, house the homeless, feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit those imprisoned.

The prison ministry serves individuals who are currently incarcerated, people previously incarcerated, family and friends of those incarcerated, and individuals who live with a sense of loss and suffering.   • Angel Tree/Camp
    Project Angel Tree is a ministry that supports the families of those whose parent is incarcerated. Project Angel Tree, under the auspices of the Prison Fellowship Ministry, has existed nearly 24 years. Each year around Christmas, inmates around the country apply to prison chaplains for their children to receive gifts on their behalf. These applications are sent to local churches throughout the country and members of these churches chose a child's names and purchases gifts. Each child receives two gift wishes; a clothing item and a toy (fun) item to cost no more than $25.00 each. These gifts are presented to the children at a Christmas party. Antioch has participated in Project Angel Tree for 19 years. -- Angel Tree Camp has a similar purpose, as it serves the same children of the Angel Tree Christmas program. Children are sponsored by members of the congregation who supply needed items for a child to attend summer camp. Items include: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, sunscreen and other toiletry items.

  • Crossroads Bible Institute
    Members of the church are trained to correct Bible study lessons and write letters of encouragement to prisoners all across America. Lessons are received weekly at Antioch and are distributed to the volunteer instructors. Here's how the program works: An inmate contacts a ministry affiliated with CBI i.e. Project Angel Tree, RBC Ministries, etc. to request information about something he/she heard; that ministry sends the inmate a CBI enrollment form that he/she must fill out and return to that CBI ministry; CBI mails out bible study lessons to the inmate, one at a time. The inmate completes and returns the lesson to CBI for correction; Trained volunteer instructors correct and return the lesson to the inmate, along with personal letters of discipleship; and Inmate is awarded a certificate when a course is successfully completed.

  • Circle of Prayer
    This effort is connected to the Detention Home ministry. Antioch is spearheading an effort to encircle the Juvenile Detention Home at least twice a year in a united prayer seeking God's intervention in the lives of troubled youth in and outside of this facility. We have started this process by praying in front of the facility each time we meet there. Youth mentors are also needed for children of incarcerated parents. This is done in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ohio. This ministry seeks to give vulnerable children positive and consistent adult presence and role models in their lives.

  • Cookie Ministry
    The cookie ministry supports in-prison fellowships (Kairos) and Juvenile Detention Home ministry. Over 10,000 dozen cookies are used in a Kairos weekend. Antioch participates in one or two weekends per year. The weekend involves four days of concentrated ministry within the prison. This is a very successful program, and very few persons involved in these weekends return to prison. All cookies must be homemade; no nuts, raisins or powdered sugar, please. An announcement will be made when cookies are needed.

  • Juvenile Detention Center
    The detention home ministry takes place every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Missionary workers from Antioch and other churches assemble at 22nd and Central, intake area of the Juvenile Detention Home, at about 6:50 p.m. before entering various holding areas to minister to young men and women. Multiple messages of love and support are offered to these young people. We supply bibles to all those requesting one and bring fresh home baked cookies at least twice per month. Please join the men and women of Antioch in this great mission of love. NIV bibles are constantly needed.

  • Matthew House Ministry
    The prison ministry ministers behind the wall by offering weekly Bible study classes and twice monthly Sunday morning worship services. Volunteers are needed as speakers and Bible study leaders.

  • Clothing Room
    The Oriana House Clothing Room for Men and Women is supplied with clothes donated from members of Antioch Baptist Church as well as residents from the community. Volunteers from Antioch Baptist Church are not only responsible for stocking these rooms but must check the inventory monthly/bi-monthly to ensure that the rooms are adequately supplied with clothes for both men and women. This is important as the recipients rely on these donations to have adequate and appropriate clothes to wear during climate changes and more important, when pursuing job opportunities.

  • Oriana House Library
    Antioch operates a lending library at Oriana House that has a variety of book topics and magazines that are loaned to inmates. Volunteers are needed to work in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

  • Reach Out Cleveland Weekend
    This ministry seeks to reach out to our neighbors in the Fairfax neighborhood twice a year by walking door-to-door, giving sweet love gifts and extending an invitation to all to join Antioch for worship. This is done during the spring and late summer.

  • Oriana House Worship Services
    Antioch Baptist Church provides a regular church service at the Oriana House (pre-release center) on the first and third Sundays of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A schedule is kept for volunteer speakers. You can volunteer to join the speaker's panel for this important ministry. We minister to men and women at this facility. Come and be a blessing to someone and be blessed!!!

  • Open Door Fellowship Service
    Is open to all who come for worship, fellowship, sharing of life journeys, through song, testimonies and prayer. A hot meal is served. The ministry seeks to aide those recently returning home from prison by offering assistance with bus tickets, new state identification cards, arranging for social security cards and, where possible, job leads. Volunteers are always needed to serve as mentors, worship leaders, to provide transportation, and serve in hospitality. Prison Ministry Sunday is observed the third Sunday in September, when ministry workers and individuals who have made outstanding progress in getting their lives back on track are recognized.

    This ministry endeavors to visit a state correctional institution to share in worship with the brothers and sisters incarcerated through the preached Word, prayers, inspirational music and encouragement to become members of the family of God.

  • Annual Tent Revival
    This ministry of renewal, restoration and outreach is conducted at the end of summer and aims to revive the spirits of members through a week-long series of powerful preaching, meditations and spirit-filled songs. The revival is held outdoors and invites the community to join in the worship and fellowship.

  • Signage Ministry
    Selects inspirational and uplifting messages to post on the marquee and outdoor bulletin boards to remind passersby of God's presence in our midst. The signs are changed every three weeks. Volunteers are needed. Other evangelism activities include the distribution of religious track, traditional and television broadcast and evangelism training for all who want to acquire the confidence and tools to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.   • Tape & CD Ministry
    The audio-visual ministry's mission is to preserve and present the programs of Antioch via recorded media. The mission is also to supply the prescribed audio and visual effects to enhance the presented programs. A staff of volunteers who record the programs on audio or digital videotape provides this service. There is also a staff that sells the recorded events on audiotape, CD, DVD, and VHS tape. These sales are made after the main Sunday service.

  • Television Ministry
    The audio tape and video ministry was established to evangelize the word of God through music and spoken word minister each week during our Sunday Worship Services. DVD, CD and audio cassette recordings are made of each 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. service. They are made available to our members and visitor's at prices specified on the order form. Television broadcast of our worship services can be found on several public access channels throughout Cleveland.

  • Women's Ministries
    All women are invited to participate in the Antioch Women's Ministries. Likewise, all women's groups in our church are encouraged to be a part of Antioch Women's Ministries. Small groups may be called study or support groups, circles, ministry or special interest groups. There is no single prescribed pattern for small groups. The format of each group may be different but common to each is the purpose of providing opportunities for women to become involved in one or more of the three areas of ministry: personal development, church and community, and mission and service. Monthly meetings provide an opportunity to meet together and develop a cohesive fellowship. Meetings are held the first Tuesday in each month from September - June. Bulletin announcements reflect the meeting times and dates.

    The Laymen's Organization is open to any man of Antioch Baptist Church and offers opportunities to get to know one another through Christian fellowship by attending monthly meetings and getting involved in the activities sponsored by the Laymen or supporting the Ministries of the church. Activities and ministries include: Men's Day, Speaker and Program; The Showcase of Men; The AGAPE AIDS Walk; Father and Son Banquet; Easter Breakfast; the Laymen's Retreat; and Annual Antioch Golf Outing.

  • Usher Board I
    Second Sundays after the 11:00 a.m. Service. This ministry attends to the greeting and seating of the congregation, as well as assists the Trustees in receiving offering. The chairpersons of each usher board shall work together for scheduling and coordinating activities for all usher boards at worship services, funerals, revivals and as these services are needed.

    We are door keepers in the house of our "God." Psalms 84:10. We believe to be a good church usher you must be a Christian. A Christian is one who professes Jesus Christ as savior, and accepts him as our Lord. Christianity is the precept doctrine taught by Christ.

  • Temple Emanu-El Social Justice Observance
    An annual, interfaith commemoration of the lives of and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rabbi Abraham J. Heshel. This takes place in January, and the event alternates between worship sites. Themes and times vary.

  • Antioch Christian Bowlers
    The Antioch Bowling Christians Ministry was organized in 2003 for the purpose of Christian fellowship and to provide a means by which Antioch members may get to know each other. While using bowling as a vehicle to bring us together, it is not our primary focus. We have fun together and share each others' joys and sorrows while worshipping and giving thanks to God.

  • Quilting Bee
    Steeped in the historic tradition of quilt makers in the African-American community, going back over 200 years, these dedicated women meet weekly to spin yarns and pieces of beautiful material in the comfort of the Antioch Chapel.

  • Silver Leaf Club
    The Silver Leaf Club was founded in 1930 under the direction of Miss Mattie B. Thomas, to assist the Pastorate of Antioch and to assist those in need of both the congregation and those of the community. The club participates in homeless women and children shelters, the Zelma George Center on a monthly basis. Also, the Community Women's Shelter, three times per year, contributing personal supplies, socks and gloves. Some club members were tutors in the Adopt-a-school Program, and we visit sick the and shut-in members of the church.

  • Women's Golf Ministry
    The goal of this ministry is to bring together Christian women to experience the enjoyment of golf, while fostering sisterly relationships in a way that would give back something to the Church, by way of a monetary donation and/or service to other auxiliaries, when needed. The Antioch Women's Golf Ministry was formed in 2007 when several women of the Church often discussed how much they enjoyed the fellowship when participating in the Laymen's Golf Outings. The ministry is not limited to women of Antioch. Christian women are welcome to participate, further fostering relationships with women from other churches in the community. We meet on Tuesdays, weather permitting.
